Sundar Pichai, CEO of Google and Alphabet

Sundar is the CEO of Google and Alphabet and serves on Alphabet’s Board of Directors.

He joined Google in 2004 and helped lead the development of Google Toolbar and then Google Chrome, which grew to become the world’s most popular internet browser. In 2014 he was appointed to lead product and engineering for all of Google’s products and platforms - including popular products such as Search, Maps, Play, Android, Chrome, Gmail and Google Apps (now Google Workspace). Sundar became Google’s CEO in August 2015. He joined the Board of Directors of Alphabet, Google's parent company, in July 2017.

Under his leadership as CEO, Google has been focused on developing products and services, powered by the latest advances in AI, that offer help in moments big and small. It has invested in new opportunities such as Google Cloud and YouTube and has continued to be a leader in advanced technologies, including machine learning and quantum computing.

In December 2019, in addition to his role as CEO of Google, Sundar became the CEO of Google’s parent company, Alphabet.

Sundar grew up in Chennai, India and studied engineering at the Indian Institute of Technology where he was awarded an Institute Silver Medal. He holds a master's degree from Stanford University and an MBA from the Wharton School, where he was named a Siebel Scholar and a Palmer Scholar.


Thomas Kurian, CEO, Google Cloud

Thomas joined Google in November 2018 as the CEO of Google Cloud. Prior to Google, Thomas spent 22 years at Oracle, where most recently he was President of Product Development. Before that, Thomas worked at McKinsey as a business analyst and engagement manager. His nearly 30 years of experience have given him a deep knowledge of engineering, enterprise relationships, and leadership of large organizations. Thomas' degrees include, an MBA in Administration and Management from Stanford University as an Arjay Miller Scholar and a BSEE in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science from Princeton University where he graduated Summa Cum Laude. Thomas serves as a member of the Stanford Graduate School of Business Advisory Council and Princeton University School of Engineering Advisory Council.


Aparna Pappu, VP/GM, Google Workspace

Aparna Pappu is Vice President and General Manager of Google Workspace. Aparna leads the global business across strategy, product development and engineering to deliver helpful communication and collaboration solutions to millions of customers across businesses, schools, and industries of all sizes.

Aparna has deep roots at Google and in technology and building products. Before joining Google Workspace as VP of Engineering in 2018, she spent a decade leading the development and growth of Google’s ads publisher platform. Prior to Google, she led innovative work in video distribution systems, receiving five patents in the field.

Aparna grew up in Pune, India and received a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science at Pune Institute of Computer Technology and a Master’s degree in Computer Science at Georgia Tech. Aparna lives with her family in New York City.


Cathy Edwards, VP/GM, Search Discovery & Ecosystems

A native of Australia, Cathy Edwards, VP, Google Search, leads product management and engineering for apps, discovery and content ecosystems. Cathy has spent the last 17+ years working in search, having joined Google to run Image Search after their company, Undecidable Labs, was acquired in 2016. With a long-standing interest in the consumer applications of artificial intelligence (AI), Cathy's first job out of college was working in the AI lab at Telstra Research Labs. Cathy holds a B.C.M. in Computer Science and Pure Mathematics and a diploma in Linguistics from The University of Western Australia.

 


James Manyika, SVP, Research, Technology & Society

As SVP, Research, Technology & Society, James Manyika leads efforts across Google and Alphabet to responsibly shape and advance our most ambitious innovations to benefit people and impact society for the better. ​ He oversees Google Research, which pursues challenges and breakthroughs in computer science — including in AI, machine learning, quantum computing, and responsible AI. He is Chair and Director emeritus of McKinsey Global Institute and Senior Partner emeritus of McKinsey. He is Vice Chair of the National AI Advisory Committee, a member of the National Academies of Science, Engineering and Medicine’s Committee on Responsible Computing, a Fellow of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences, a Distinguished Fellow at Oxford Institute for Ethics in AI, and a Distinguished Fellow of Stanford’s Human-Centered AI Institute.


Sameer Samat, VP, Product Management, Android

Sameer is a Vice President at Google, where he is responsible for Google’s Android Ecosystem products, including Android Platform, Google Play and Wear OS. ​ ​

Previously at Google, he helped start the company’s Commerce division, leading the Google Shopping and Google Travel teams. Sameer has more than 20 years of experience leading product and engineering teams, including founding Mohomine, a software company providing cloud-based AI, and serving as the Executive Vice President of Products at Kofax (KFX) after they acquired Mohomine. Sameer holds a BS in Computer Science from the University of California, San Diego and is a graduate of Harvard Business School's PMD program.


Dave Burke, VP, Engineering, Android

Dave Burke is Vice President of Engineering at Google where he leads engineering for the Android Platform. Android is the largest mobile platform and ecosystem in the world, with over 3 billion active devices spanning smartphones, tablets, wearables, auto, TV, and XR.

Dave joined Google UK in 2007, becoming an engineering site lead and later moving to California in 2011. Prior to Google, Dave co-founded and was CTO of an internet/telecoms voice startup and helped define related Web and Internet standards. Dave holds a BE, MEngSc, and PhD in Electronic Engineering from University College Dublin, Ireland.


Rick Osterloh, SVP, Devices and Services

Rick Osterloh joined Google in April 2016 as Senior Vice President overseeing Google’s Devices & Services efforts—which include products such as our Pixel phones, Google Nest family of smart home devices, the Fitbit portfolio of smartwatches and activity trackers, subscription services like Google One and Google Fi, and more—all bringing together the best of Google’s artificial intelligence, software and hardware. Rick already has a long and successful track record in the consumer hardware and technology industry based on his work over the last 20+ years. Prior to joining Google, he was the President of Motorola Mobility. Before becoming President in April 2014, he was SVP of product at Motorola, responsible for the planning, strategy and delivery of all products. He served as VP of product and design at Skype, led the delivery of software and operation of the Android platform at Motorola, and was in charge of product management at Good Technology. Rick has also held consulting and product management positions at Deloitte & Touche, Amazon.com and Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers.

Rick received a bachelor's and master’s degree in Industrial Engineering, as well as an MBA from Stanford University. He is a staunch Golden State Warriors supporter and enjoys playing basketball in his spare time. Rick also serves on the Board of the Positive Coaching Alliance (PCA), which aims to develop better athletes, better people through resources for youth and high school sports coaches, parents, administrators and student-athletes.


Sissie Hsiao, VP/GM, Assistant

Sissie Hsiao is the Vice President and General Manager of Google Assistant and Bard, leading many of Google’s advancements in applying generative AI and other natural language and speech technologies to products. A passionate computer scientist and lifelong learner, she inspires her team to explore the limits of what’s possible when we apply cutting-edge advancements in AI to everyday, real-world problems for people around the world.

Prior to serving in her current role, Sissie led Google’s global display, video and app advertising businesses, where her primary responsibilities included advertiser and publisher facing products (including Google Universal App Campaigns, Google Display Campaigns, Google Ad Manager, AdMob, and AdSense), R&D of new ads products, and managing go-to-market strategies cross functionally with sales, marketing, business development, policy, privacy, and communications. Sissie has also led product development of Google Analytics and Google Slides. ​

Sissie’s career started at Microsoft, where she was responsible for graphics technologies within the Microsoft Office suite from 2000 to 2006. She has a B.S. in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science from UC Berkeley.


Jeanine Banks, VP/GM, Developer X & Developer Relations

Jeanine Banks is the VP & General Manager, Developer X & Head of Developer Relations, responsible for the strategy, product portfolio, and ecosystem engagement for third party (3P) developer experiences, including tools like Angular, Dart, Firebase, Flutter, TensorFlow, Kaggle, and others. Jeanine and her team collaborate across Google to empower millions of 3P developers to build AI-enabled, digital experiences for billions of users worldwide.

Before Google, Jeanine was the GM of AWS Insights & Enterprise Tools at Amazon, where she led teams serving all millions of AWS customers in managing billions in cloud spend. Previously, she also led development for Amazon EC2 Spot, fleet management and auto scaling services. Jeanine launched dozens of new products such as the Amazon AppFlow integration platform, AWS Audit Manager risk management service, GE Centricity 360 health cloud, and Axway AMPLIFY digital experience platform. She also founded two digital health startups that enabled consumers to better manage their health.

Jeanine is a developer and she started coding as a 9th grade intern at the Brookhaven National Laboratory (BNL) where she used the early draft of the HTML specification to build one of BNL’s first websites. Today, she mentors and coaches underrepresented founders, and is an advocate for increasing diversity and inclusion in startup investments.

Jeanine graduated from Dowling College with a bachelor's degree in Computer Science and an MBA in General Management from Adelphi University.


Rose Yao, VP of Product, Search

Rose is a seasoned product leader with over 18 years of experience building and leading product teams. She got her start as a computer engineer student at University of Nebraska, Lincoln and joined Google as an APM in 2005 right out of college. Her work at Google includes popular products like Gmail and iGoogle. She then went on to lead the mobile, OpenGraph, and photos product teams at Facebook before joining the startup world. After Facebook, she was VP Product at Athos, a smart clothing company. This is where she learned the ins and outs how to blend physical products with software experiences. ​ She went back to Google to build to learn to build a business with Google Maps. ​


Josh Woodward, Senior Director of Product Management, Google Labs

Josh leads the AI product and design teams in Google Labs. He's an early stage leader who co-founded Google's Next Billion Users effort and helped create Chromebooks. His work has focused on making technology more accessible to everyone. He holds degrees from the University of Oklahoma and Oxford University. He and his wife make a mean batch of jambalaya and have four kids.
